The STRUGGLE is Real With Reading Slumps

I can do a lot of things. Writing and drawing in the afternoon/evening, relax with some Chinese lessons at night? Perfectly fine.

But being in the middle of writing a book and reading another one?

I can even help my friends and beta read for them, making comments all along the document! Still can’t read a book in less than a month, these days.

For whatever reason, my brain puts writing/editing/beta reading in a bucket, and whenever any of those things are happening, it saps away from my reading bucket, and I. cannot. focus.

But I’m trying, you guys, I really am. Whenever I do read, it helps my writing so much. I get inspiration for approaching scenes better, dialogue ideas, plotting inspiration, everything! Not to mention I just love a good fantasy to cozy up with an escape into the pages for a while, but lately it’s been so hard to disconnect.

My goal is to finish We Hunt The Flame by Hafsah Faizal by the end of the year. And I think I’ll be able to do it. I’m not buying any more books until I do! And when I do, I’m going to write a review, and then try to get to all the other books I’ve been meaning to read!

I still haven’t read The Gilded Wolves 😭.

So my reading goals for the new year is gonna include a lot of stuff from this year, AND the year before because that’s how backlogged my tbr list is right now.

And I’m still not ready for all the cool stuff coming out next year too 😭😭😭
